[caption id="attachment_48" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Family & Cosmetic Dentistry in Cinemark 2"][/caption]We are happy to announce we've finally made it to the big screen! Well, our mini-ad has anyway! :) We thought it would be a good idea to let Fort Collins know more about us, our same day crowns capabilities (Cerec) and the many other benefits of visiting our office. Beginning April 16, 2010 our ad will be visible at the Cinemark theaters (all 16 screens) on Timberline (just a short distance east of our office). If you happen to arrive at your movie early, you'll get to see what's in it for you! Our ad will also play on the kiosk in the lobby and at Cinema Saver 6 which is on Worthington so keep your eyes peeled! Oh, and please don't forget -- When you come in to see us be sure to ask about our prize contest. We've got some cool toys to give away!

Dental Insurance
We deal with dental insurance on a daily basis and want to enlighten all our patients as completely as we can about dental insurance and our involvement with it.
We routinely assist our patients with their insurance whenever possible before performing any treatment. We never know exactly what any company will do in any given situation regarding participating provider status. For example, just this week we received payment from Delta for an HP employee (HP had Met Life up until this year) and it was 100% of our fees as was their Met Life previously and we are not and were not preferred providers for either company. The situation applies for many other companies but all companies have hundreds of contracts each and depending on the contract or specific employer they may cover the patient more if they go to a preferred provider than a nonpar but we never know until checked.
We recommend that you obtain a hard copy of your dental insurance program and familiarize yourself with it and bring it with you. Interestingly, if we were to become a part of Delta of Colorado’s PPO we would be receiving about 20% less than our fees (unless we were to move to Longmont where they have a higher table of allowances) and yet not being a part of their PPO they pay out benefits according to our full fees for HP employees covered by Delta. I hope this helps those who did not know how PPO and non-PPO function.
Rest assured, as always, we will do everything possible to make sure our patients receive the highest possible reimbursement from their insurance company.
Same Day Dental Cosmetic Makeover
Often people will come to us with concerns about the appearance of their teeth. Since we meet the world with our smiles the quality of what we present may make a difference in how we are perceived by others. The importance of a pleasant smile appearance cannot be overstated and achieving the best one possible just happens to be our goal!
With our Cerec technology we can accomplish rather astonishing smile makeovers in one appointment. For instance a person may have one or more upper front teeth which are badly discolored and/or badly shaped and want or need to have those problems corrected right away. With conventional dental techniques that would not be possible because a dental laboratory would need to be involved which would require “goop” impressions, temporary crowns and wait time in between visits. The temporary crowns or veneers often come off or are uncomfortable or not pleasing in appearance and may have to be on for two weeks or more.
With our Cerec technique we can eliminate all of that by completing the treatment in just one appointment! If you needed to have your smile improved in one appointment because of an upcoming event or just were anxious to see the change as soon as possible then here is the place to have it done!
Broke your tooth?
…and you have no time to wait for a crown to be made because of an upcoming wedding. Have you ever heard of Cerec? There are dentists who use this technique to repair your tooth (make your crown) in one appointment and I happen to be one. Previously, if you broke a tooth you had to have “goop” impressions, have the tooth prepped, then have a temporary crown for 2-3 weeks.
The common problem here is that the temporary crown often comes off at an inconvenient time and or location. Then you either have to have a new one made and have to find another dentist to make it for you (if you happen to be out of town at the time) until you can get back in for the permanent crown seat. And , since the crown has been made by a lab, it may not fit! Then you have to start the whole process all over again.
When you have it done using Cerec in my office the process is all done in one visit (not temporaries or labs) and you walk out with your permanent crown. The Cerec technique uses CAD/CAM technology which is performed with an aquisition unit (computer with an infrared camera) with which a picture of your broken tooth is taken (an optical impression instead of a “goop” impression) and then a picture of the prepared tooth.
Your new crown is then designed with great accuracy to match your original unbroken tooth and this information is sent by radio frequency to the milling machine in my office which mills your new crown out of a solid block of porcelain in the shade to match your tooth. The crown is polished and adjusted (if necessary) and permanently bonded in place. The entire procedure takes less than 2 hours.
